College life probably isn’t complete if you finished it without even wearing any statement shirt shouting your pride for your school. :)
Every university or college has its own store or stores (not necessarily owned by the school) which sell stuff that definitely speak some school spirit. In UPLB, where I currently study, I bet there’s that one brand which sells the best shirts. And this is what I’m going to blog about today. Obviously, this is the brand whose shirts are visible in the campus every single day. And it’s not a surprise…Who wouldn’t want to have hip shirts which speak their pride for the school? And plus, at definitely reasonable prices? Now if you’re a UPLB student, I’m pretty sure you already know what I’m talking about.
And if that’s UP Beat you’re thinking of, you can’t be wrong. =)
UP Beat: Where Pride is Our Fashion
This clothing line found in Raymundo sells UP shirts and jackets at reasonable prices. What I love in their pieces is that they don’t only sell T-Shirts; they also sell tees which speak some UP trademarks! If I could collect them all, I would. And I think many students can relate with me..haha..sus, aminin! Chos ;) If we have the capacity, why not, right? ;)
Here are some designs I saw when I went there..
(^only 220 pesos!) So cute. A must have for every female UP student. But I’d rather have the “Mister Fighting Maroon” shirt. Haha! Which, by the way, is not available when I went there so of course, there’s no picture of it. Hihi..
(240 pesos^ ..Uhh, wait, I think the designer forgot to put Ateneo in the top spot along with UP!..hihi..just my side comment! I also loooooove Ateneo—my ultimate dream school within the country. But hey, that doesn’t mean I don’t love UP!!)
When my friends and I first saw this shirt design in a print ad, we can’t help but laugh hard at the extreme pride Haha! What? There’s nothing directly wrong this because UP Beat is just living its tagline: where Pride is our Fashion. Right? it is obviously not true, though, we UP pips know it deep down ourselves..but then, exaggeration has its humor sometimes! So this is cool to wear within UP…. But if you have love for your life, don’t where this somewhere else! Hoho. [Note: OMG. As I upload this shirt design, please, no offense to other universities and colleges, please:]
^(260 pesos) Now this is another cute thing. Haha! (sorry I can’t capture the full shirt view because I take pictures of them on their hangers..) I’d love to have this one..99% excellence and .9% perseverance! Haha..I met a lot in the campus who are just like that..not so nerd but hey, they excel a lot. Also, the pride of this shirt is self-uplifting, but is not offensive to any party :) Nice to have, isn’t it?
(280 or 290pesos??) ^Above is a blouse-like T-shirt. I think its design is hip..it’s not just your usual U.P. Shirt with the logo in front.. It looks like a newspaper cover layout which I found really cool. ..Or is it just me? Hihi..
Moving on, what I love in UP Beat is that it sells graphic UP tees in different colors as well! And each tell of a characteristic of the UP students in general. These range from 280-290 pesos only. They are available in blue(MATALINO), yellow(MAKABAYAN), red(MATAPANG), lilac(MALIKHAIN) and black(MAGALING).
>On BLUE: MATALINO
UP students are of course, smart. ..Although yes, I believe that not every UP student or not even majority are geniuses, yun as in genius. But I also believe that there is no UP student who is not above average. Certainly.. Right? Right. :)
>On YELLOW: MAKABAYAN
UP students are nationalistic. That’s why we are “Mga Iskolar Ng at Para Sa Bayan.” Anywayy, This shirt really has good design. I love how the oblation figure blends with the yellow background plus the appeal of the letters M-A-K-A-B-A-Y-A-N.
>On Red: MATAPANG.
Yes. UP students are generally brave. That has been a trademark. We stand for what we believe is right. Being passive in the decisions around us is just a no-no. We get involved. We speak. We assert and don’t just let wrong things happen.
On Lilac: MALIKHAIN
UP students are creative! We don’t just excel in the academic realm..the hands of Iskos and Iskas have the capacity to create productive things.
>On Black: MAGALING.
UP.. Need I say more? This is obvious ;) Haha..forgive the conceit :) Now the previous five designs are the cool tees UP Beat offers. Which is your fave? :)
…”But wait, there’s more” ;D
UP Beat isn’t only limited to shirts..it also sells the best UP jackets in UPLB (just an opinion, mind you :)
Above’s just 800 pesos. Really cheaper compared to other jackets, right? (Sorry picture is blurry)
^This another design costs 1,100 pesos, but is definitely sulit! This is one of the stuff I consider as a total must have! I think it could also be the official jacket of UP athletes because it’s so beautiful. ..Or is it just me? I don’t know what’s with my eyes but I believe this one’s really a great buy. Now, I promise to myself that before April 2012, I’ll buy this jacket!
But anyway, have you ever wondered what their Best Seller is?
Whether you’re a UPLB student or not, I dare you: Go to UPLB at any schoolday, walk around, and for sure, you will see at least two people wearing this shirt. Yep, this is what I’m talking about when I said that you see UP Beat shirts in the campus every single day. I think it would be like a uniform if all the students who have this design will wear it on the same day. Cool. Haha. (Sometimes I wish that UP had uniform..I think it adds school spirit:) No doubt that it is the best seller. A cool combination of comfort and style—plus the colors white and maroon had a great blend in here.
..And this is actually the primary reason why I went to UP Beat that day. (Of course, where can I have the guts to take pictures of all of these if I wouldn’t buy anything, right? Haha XD This is my dream shirt since like, July? Hihi.. (but my money, if ever I get to save up, always found its way to buy something else :/ )
Finally, that day, last December 6, I officially told myself that I would go buy that 1908 shirt now! No more “next times”
..But guess what, I still wasn’t able to buy it..
^This is what I ended up buying: the Bluebook shirt! I fell in love with it right away!!! I just told myself that I would buy the UP 1908 shirt, again, next time. Haha.. The Blue Book shirt is such an answered prayer! It was UP Beat’s latest design. But the first time I saw a Bluebook shirt was about June this year at the facebook page of Diliman Republic, the coolest UP stuff store in UPD. But it was twice the price..so having this bluebook shirt in UPLB at much cheaper value—and yeah, minus the travel :) —is something I’m really grateful for.
When I bought it, I found it even more cute when I saw that they don’t pack the shirt in the usual way—plastic, or in Los Banos’ case where no plastic is allowed, paper bags. Here, each purchase of shirt comes with a free cute pouch! Haha
I wore it right away the next day:)
^Booom!! Sorry for extreme low-quality picture..it’s like close to a poster quality already :( Hihi..this was how I wore it: BlueBook Shirt + Black Pencil Cut Skirt (but not used as pencil cut) + Yellow Rubbershoes + Red mini bagpack + Pink Attache Case..I made it sporty but girly.
I will where this outfit again so I can have a clear outfit post next time :)
After buying my first ever UP shirt, I did not only know how sulit their items are, I finally figured out the pronunciation of the brand! Haha..UP Beat pala, as in “Up.” I used to pronounce it as Yupi Beat :/ And I can’t help but laugh at myself. But when I told that to my friend, I laughed more when she said “Okay lang yan, akala ko nga noon UP Bea eh (as in Yupi Beya) kasi di ko alam na T pala yung oblation. Haha..”
Anyway, now that I have blogged the cool designs UP Beat has to offer, what are you waiting for? (Haha..ayan naging endorser na ako..haha..walang bayad to ha;) I encourage you to buy any item there and you won’t regret it. Express your pride. After all, who’s a UP student who won’t be proud of his school?? Whooo? :)
Inquiries anyone? Above are some information found at the back of the pouch :)

…God bless and stay stylish, everyone!
